On July 29, 2001 President Bush signed an executive order creating the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Prior to the executive order, Faith-Based initiatives like MWC were not allowed access to federal grants due to separation of church and state. Executive Director, Dr. Tasneem attended a regional conference where she briefly met President Bush. On June 1, 2004 Both the Executive Director and Regional Director, Uzma Farooq attended the first national conference held in D.C. where President Bush motivated Faith-Based intiatives to take advantage of federal money to help and serve others.
