The Muslim Women's Coalition's DC office accepts applications for internships for the summer and year-round.

Job Requirement:

Rising high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students interested or majoring in the fields of communication, media, public relations, journalism, accounting, gender studies and anthropology are encouraged to apply. All positions are non-paid, however we can work with students to get academic credit for their work. Duration for the internships may vary - but with a minimum of at least 3 months. ** Most work can be completed via online from the intern’s home!! We require interns to attend quarterly meetings and events. We are looking to hear from women who are dedicated, hard working and who believe in MWC's mission statement. 

 

 

Job Description:

 

Public Relations Intern:

Responsibilities for public relations interns may include updating the website, brochures, creating press releases and creating newsletters. Therefore it is critical that applicants have good computer skills and experience with creating web pages, and digital photography. Experience with programs like MS Word, MS Publisher, FrontPage, Adobe Photoshop, and Acrobat are necessary.

 

Research Interns:
Responsibilities for research interns may include doing research for upcoming speaker series, and advocacy topics and assisting in organizing workshops. Prior non-profit work experience is a plus.

 

Accounting Interns:

Responsibilities for accounting interns may include writing and applying for grants, and assistance with budget oversight. Previous experience with grant-writing is desired.

 

Programming Interns:

Responsibilities for programming interns may include hands-on planning and executing of upcoming interfaith, community outreach, and educational programming events. Intern must be committed to attending MWC events. Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task well. Individuals who have leadership skills and can delegate responsibilities to others are needed.
