Traditional Islam in South Asia: A Personal Perspective by Zeenut Ziad This lecture was presented to the congregation of the Seeker’s
Church, a Christian Community in Washington DC on November 16, 2008. It is a personal narrative of growing up as a Muslim
and Pakistani in South Asia, a region that represents the diversity that encompasses much of the Muslim World.

Viewing of the movie, St. Mary was an interfaith event hosted by the DC area office of MWC along with the National Cathedral's Center for Global
Justice and Reconciliation. This event brought over 150 individuals together to view the film at the National Cathedral's
Perry Auditorium on July 29, 2007.

The Diversity Dialogues, 2006: Sharing Ideas, Building Communities- A Dutch-US Muslim Dialogue. This event was sponsored
by the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund (LCCRF) and Ambassador Ronald Arnall at the US Embassy in the
Netherlands. This allowed deeper understanding of diversity within the given civic societies and how changes could be implemented
successfully.

Women of Faith Celebrating a Day of Unity: MWC and the Arlington Interfaith Council (AIC) co-sponsored an interfaith event called Women of Faith Celebrating a Day of Unity in 2006 at the First Church of Christ Scientist in Arlington, VA.

Past interfaith and cross-cultural interactions within the community:
Attended the 2004 White House Faith-Based Initiative Conference
Participated as a member with the planning committee of the Sacred Circles at the Washington National Cathedral for
the 2005 conference. MWC remains a current member of Sacred Circles.
As a member at-large within the Arlington Interfaith Council (AIC) MWC attended monthly meetings to better acquaint
ourselves with the needs of the community, and helped to fulfill those needs.
Member of the United Religions Initiative (URI)
Participated in the 2004 Points of Light Foundation Interfaith Leadership Summit/Service Training.
MWC was invited to speak at the annual interfaith event, Presbyterian Breakfast at the Grace Presbyterian Church in
Springfield, VA in 2003.
MWC was invited to watch cross-cultural movies such as Muhammad: Legacy of a
Prophet, and Kundun as part of Arlington’s Community Resilience Project
and URI, respectively.
Invited to share a prayer at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington to honor the victims of September 11, 2001
as part of the Patriotic Interfaith Memorial Celebration Service.
In 2003 MWC attended a kick-off for a Habitat for Humanity Interfaith House in Northeast Washington, DC.
